There’s nothing wrong with shiny two-piece swimsuits but in this case the girls wearing them are literal objects, literally dressed to be objectified by both the men on screen and the audience watching. So, that’s a thing. (An academic thesis could also be written about holograms as objects and as ‘people’ in Voyager and Trek.)
